MEF launches expanded 2012 Carrier Ethernet Awards

Service providers and their clients recognized for Carrier Ethernet excellence and innovation

The MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) today announced details of an enhanced awards program for 2012 – the Carrier Ethernet Awards – which for the first time, will acknowledge partnerships between Service Providers and their clients in the delivery of Carrier Ethernet services for various application verticals. The awards will be presented in North America, Asia-Pacific (APAC), Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) and Caribbean & Latin American (CALA) regions with a Global Service Provider award being presented to the provider offering the most comprehensive range of Ethernet services in 3 or more regions. “Following very constructive feedback from last year’s Analyst judging panels and awards participants, we have upgraded the awards program to reflect the diversity and expansion of the Carrier Ethernet market and to encourage a wider range of participation globally.” stated Kevin Vachon, MEF Chief Operating Officer.
This year’s program has been renamed the MEF Carrier Ethernet Awards – 2012 with the previous Business Services Award will being replaced by the Business Applications Awards, which recognize partnerships between Service Providers and their clients in the delivery of Ethernet Business Services for specific application verticals.
Service Providers operating in the EMEA, APAC, CALA and North America regions will be invited to submit nominations in partnership with their clients in a range of market verticals including Finance, Healthcare, Government, Education, Retail and Manufacturing amongst others.
Other retained award categories for 2012 include “Best Wholesale Ethernet Service” which rewards the service provider with the most robust wholesale service offering extending the reach of Ethernet services including mobile backhaul and Ethernet Business Services. “Best Marketing” recognizes creativity and proven results in marketing of Ethernet Services.
The “Regional Service Provider of the Year” award will be presented to the provider who is headquartered in and offering Ethernet services primarily within a nominated region, and has highest cumulative score for the Business Application, Wholesale and Marketing categories.
Finally, the “Global Service Provider of the Year” award will recognize the service provider with the most comprehensive Carrier Ethernet Service offering covering 3 or more regions..
The awards will once again be judged by independent panels of senior industry analysts and are open to all providers of Carrier Ethernet services in the respective regions. MEF membership is not required to participate.
