With three years to go, Atos Origin, the Worldwide IT Partner to the International Olympic Committee, confirms that the technology plans are all on track and reveals the technology roadmap for the London 2012 Games
Gerry Pennell, LOCOG’s Chief Information Officer said, “I am delighted with the way London 2012’s technology team is working together to progress the development of our systems. Each partner brings great expertise in its own field, and it is invaluable to be able to draw on the knowledge Atos Origin gives from its experience of delivering four previous Games”.
Atos Origin’s Michèle Hyron, chief integrator at London 2012, explains: “The technology roadmap for each Games is divided into four phases and we are now close to completing phase one – design of the technology infrastructure and systems that will relay the results to the world in a fraction of a second. We are working with LOCOG and our fellow technology partners, broadcasters and journalists to ensure the delivery of a solution that enables them to provide more news from the Games than ever before.
“The focus is on ensuring technology plays a bigger role in enabling the sustainable Games from designing infrastructure that reduces the energy and hardware required through to implementing solutions that reduce the need to print so many pages during Games time.”
