Date: Tue, 12/15/2009 - 13:56
Focus on consolidation, cost-cutting and sustainability
New at CeBIT 2010, Hannover, from 2 to 6 March: the "Professional Data Center" in Hall 12 serves as a centre for corporate IT. The main focus of attention at the new display will be on the three major challenges facing corporate IT officers today: consolidation, cost-cutting and sustainability.
The presentation at the "Professional Data Center @ CeBIT" covers the complete spectrum of corporate IT - from servers in small firms to specialized high-performance computing centres in much larger enterprises. Under eight different thematic headings the display addresses the key aspects of corporate IT as well as such related areas as security, energy supply and facility management.
The eight highlighted topic areas are as follows: cabling/infrastructure, security (data and physical facilities), active components, virtualization and consolidation, consulting, energy supply, connections/carriers and managed services.
The "Professional Data Center" consists of an exhibition space, the Lounge Area and Speakers' Corner. The Lounge Area is the ideal place to sit down and talk at length with manufacturers and consultants, while Speakers' Corner offers a daily program of lectures and chaired round-table discussions on issues of topical interest within the industry. Among the subjects earmarked for discussion are legal requirements (compliance), energy efficiency, security and virtualization, as well as the lessons learned from numerous tests in real-world labs.
