CeBIT expands "Enterprise Content Management" sector
Date: Fri, 10/08/2010 - 14:02
Mobile ECM solutions on the move. CeBIT 2011, 1 to 5 March
For many companies, managing content efficiently and transparently represents a major challenge - a situation which is compounded by the constantly growing information overload. This information overload prevents fast, targeted access to important content: it slows down processes and drives up costs. Enterprise Content Management solutions (ECM) are an effective tool for combating this information chaos. At CeBIT 2011 virtually all major enterprises from the ECM sector will be represented in Hall 3.
ECM sector grows at CeBIT
"Order from chaos, and knowledge from order - what the ancient Greeks were seeking has become a key issue again in many industries due to the growing information overload. ECM is an essential solutions driver in this area, which is why many providers of ECM systems have weathered the economic crisis very well. Many of them are growing from a healthy starting position," explains Frank Pörschmann, Senior Vice President for CeBIT at Deutsche Messe. "This trend is reflected in the registrations received for CeBIT 2011. Key market leaders like d.velop, DocuWare, ELO, OPTIMAL SYSTEMS and windream have already nailed down a spot at CeBIT 2011, with others to follow. Several ECM exhibitors are also expanding their presence at the show. These dynamics are indicative of a trend for the entire ECM market."
"d.velop has been regularly represented at CeBIT for the last 15 years, and 2010 was by far our best year for generating new customer leads," comments Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Pliete, Managing Director of the d.velop Group. "We welcome the efforts of Deutsche Messe, to make decision-makers more conscious of the issue of efficiency in management and office organization by concentrating Enterprise Content Management solutions in Hall 3. In 2011 we are once again planning a major appearance to demonstrate to visitors that efficient working, using our intuitive and mobile interfaces, can be fun."
Peter Schnautz, President and CEO if InoTec GmbH, is equally upbeat about CeBIT 2011: "After 17 successful appearances at CeBIT we are certain of seeing our domestic and above all international partners and customers there in 2011. For InoTec GmbH CeBIT is the No. 1 international show. This is the place to generate new business."
"ECM lives from its broad tie-ins to other information and telecommunications solutions, which is exactly what CeBIT offers," affirms Pörschmann, who believes one can also measure the growing significance of CeBIT for the ECM sector by the number of multi-year contracts being signed by ECM exhibitors. "We can also report a series of new exhibitors and 'prodigal' exhibitors who have returned to the fold," says Pörschmann. "We are delighted, for example, that EASY, one of the key players in the industry, is going to be back for CeBIT 2011 with its own stand."
VOI, the leading German association for organization and information systems, will also be represented with a large partner stand, the ECM Area, at CeBIT 2011 from 1 to 5 March. "State-of-the-art information management is unthinkable today without the deployment of ECM solutions. At CeBIT, visitors can get a comprehensive overview of the latest ECM solutions. As the VOI association we will be joining our members in using CeBIT 2011 to popularize ECM among a broad international audience of specialists," reports Henner von der Banck, President of VOI.
A key port of call will be the ECM Forum, which VOI is organizing jointly with its members. The forum will feature presentations and discussion on the latest topics, including best-practice examples.
Trend towards mobile ECM applications
One example is the trend towards business applications for mobile end devices, which greatly broaden the operating range of professional ECM systems and, as a result, support new business opportunities. Apps for iPad and other devices enable unlimited access to documents, invoices and other enterprise content - quickly and securely, from any location in any time zone. They also allow for easy updating of content on the road which is then available for the corporate workflow. This accelerates processes, leads to faster results, creates new competitive advantages and enhances productivity.
