Discretix Multi-Scheme mobile TV security client ensures support for standard mobile TV security schemes; joint solution offers fast time-to-market for device manufacturers
Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and content protection solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, and Tata Elxsi, the embedded product design arm of the Tata Group, announced that Discretix’ Multi-Scheme mobile TV security client is being integrated into Tata Elxsi’s Maverick – a modular, scalable and flexible Mobile TV platform. The joint solution will provide device manufacturers a complete, pre-integrated and fully-validated mobile TV solution, capable of satisfying current and future content protection schemes and supporting the upcoming launch of services.
Tata Elxsi Mobile TV middleware has undergone extensive field trials in multiple European cities and is fully tested for interoperability based on the OMA-BCAST specification. The middleware is integrated with various multimedia engines, media decoders, applications and is operating system agnostic; seamlessly running on Linux, Windows Mobile and Windows XP. The software development kit (SDK) provides abstraction for underlying technologies such as CBMS (IPDC) and OMA-BCAST.
With the integration of Discretix’ Multi-Scheme mobile TV security client, Tata Elxsi ensures complete, standard-based service and content protection according to the OMA BCAST Smart Card and DRM profiles, and the DVB-H 18Crypt profile. Discretix, a world leader in mobile Digital Rights Management (DRM), Mobile TV Security and embedded security solutions, developed its Multi-Scheme technology to provide unmatched flexibility in device and service deployment. In addition to its support for multiple mobile security profiles, the technology is multi-ESG capable, allowing broadcast operators to customize and launch TV programs, pricing models and Electronic Service Guides (ESGs) quickly and cost-effectively.
“By adding robust, Multi-Scheme security to our Mobile TV middleware, Discretix is supplying a key element of the mobile TV offering” said Nitin Pai, World Wide Marketing Head for Tata Elxsi. “Device manufacturers will benefit from this alliance, being able to rapidly deploy Mobile TV application, fully tested and with full support for existing security standards.”
“In the rapidly changing world of Mobile TV, it has become imperative to come out with time to market solutions,” said Edo Ganot, EVP for Discretix. “Tata Elxsi’s flexible offering, combined with Multi-Scheme security support, dramatically reduces the development effort for device manufacturers, irrespective of the device platform, security scheme and application framework.”
