Date: Wed, 05/27/2009 - 17:05
Starling Advanced Communications is unveiling StarRail, the newest entry in its portfolio of revolutionary flat-panel satellite antennas for "Broadband on the Move" at CommunicAsia 2009, June 16-19 in Singapore at booth #6E1-01. StarRail provides broadband communications aboard high-speed trains.
"StarRail gives unparalleled value, both in terms of performance and ROI," states Jacob Keret, VP Marketing and Sales, Starling Advanced Communications. "Its two-way continuous broadband connectivity is reliable at speeds exceeding 300 km per hour, and its high efficiency gives operators a lower cost per megabyte."
Starling products leverage Ku-band and coherent multi-panel antenna technology (CoMPATM), allowing powerful multi Mbps performance for voice, streaming internet and video and the transmission of other types of heavy files, supporting all passenger and crew applications simultaneously.
Measuring only 38 in/96 cm in diameter, weighing a mere 60 lbs/27 kg, and with a low profile of 7.5 in/19 cm, the unit’s aerodynamic design ensures virtually no interference with surrounding power lines and complete tunnel clearance.
StarRail's technology ensures rapid ROI. All RF and electronic components are integrated within one self-contained unit, ensuring fast and easy one-wire installation, reducing downtime as well as long-term maintenance costs. The antenna design itself ensures maximum efficient use of bandwidth and beam width, significantly reducing the cost of satellite time.
StarRail complies with all railway standards, and its features make it an ideal solution for cross-continent and international high-speed rail travel across any type of terrain.
Starling will also feature StarCarTM at CommunicAsia. StarCar is a roof-mounted, lightweight unit for police cars, ambulances, and search and rescue vehicles that provides reliable communications for critical communications, especially when the land-based network is unavailable.
